Namedy, zu Andernach gehörend, grenzt im Süden an den Kreis Ahrweiler. Erstmals erwähnt wird "Namedei" um das Jahr 1200. Der Name stammt vermutlich aus dem Keltischen und bedeutet "Hain, Wald mit Triften und Weiden" oder auch "Heiliger Hain/Opferstätte".
